Gorbachev - a Man who Changed the World

Program type: documentary
Running time: 60'
Original title: Gorbaczow - człowiek, który zmienił świat

Twenty years since he helped to transform the world, Gorbachev reveals untold tale of his rise to power, as well as the inside story of his downfall and the demolition of the Soviet Empire.
"Mikhail Gorbachev – The Man who changed the World” takes a fresh and in depth look at Gorbachev's role in his own country's emergence out of Soviet Communism, as well as his global significance as the great  international statesman who helped end the Cold War.

Mikhail Gorbachev is one of the key figures of 20th century history. His role in transforming the political landscape of his own country and his leadership to an end of the Cold War and ushering in a new ear of global collaboration is hard to underestimate.  2011 saw him entering his 80th decade- a fitting moment to highlight his historical contribution, both for generations who witnessed the extraordinary events which he presided over and for younger generations who deserves a closer understanding of what took place.

With a unique access to Mr Gorbachev himself this film presents his own perspective on the political drama in which he was the central figure as well as his personal insights on his own transformation as a politician, his thoughts on where Russia is heading, and show him not just as a leader, but as an individual, a private man.
